# Leuven cycling-club jersey: artists and designers

Research checked 1 November 2026. This is a researched longlist, not a complete register of every local creative. Public portfolios establish a possible fit; willingness, availability, fees, licensing terms and cycling-kit production experience need to be confirmed directly. No one has been contacted.

The descriptions of existing work below come from portfolios and credited projects. Suggested jersey applications are our interpretations, not existing commissions or promises from the artists. Leuven includes Heverlee, Kessel-Lo, Wilsele and Wijgmaal. Nearby studios and Leuven roots should be labelled separately.

## Useful directions to explore

| Direction | What it could look like on a jersey | People to browse |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Playful local club | Illustrated riders, a mascot, local references and a friendly palette | Astrid Van de Sompele; Lien Geeroms; Frederik De Vlaminck |
| Urban lettering | A club name or Flemish phrase as the main graphic; bold colour and expressive letters | Straatletters |
| Artist collaboration | Distinctive surreal figures, a restrained palette or a repeating character composition | Bisser |
| Graphic and understated | A clear emblem, considered typography, a few strong colours | Karen Demyttenaere; Maarten Deckers |
| Experimental print | Layered shapes, collage, unexpected colours and print texture | Anneleen Godemont / Olalena |
| Dreamlike / outdoors | Narrative landscapes, animals, folklore and atmospheric imagery | Luis-Manuel Lambrechts; Muchamara |

## Main research

### Karen Demyttenaere — Denkbeeldig — Kessel-Lo

- **Connection and public contact:** Her own contact page lists Holsbeeksesteenweg 218, 3010 Leuven and karen@denkbeeldig.be: https://denkbeeldig.be/waar/ .
- **Existing work:** Mountainbike Enduro Aastige Hantilopen identity and illustrated Leuven Beer Adventure material for Brouwerij De Coureur. Both appear in her official portfolio index: https://denkbeeldig.be/werk/ . The brewery project is documented at https://denkbeeldig.be/project/leuven-beer-adventure/ .
- **Why browse:** A particularly relevant local combination of club identity, illustration and community-oriented work. Possible direction: a clear club emblem with illustrated local details, or an outdoors-focused visual identity.
- **Limit:** A mountain-bike club identity is not evidence of technical jersey production experience.

### Astrid Van de Sompele — Keep it Somple

- **Connection:** Portfolio identifies Leuven, Belgium. Her own site credits her work by name.
- **Existing work:** Illustrations for Het Fietslab; Leuven Autovrij campaign; M Leuven illustrations and animations; an illustrated NMBS festival-train wrap; Sûrplace logo; the Hoera 25! illustrated tote bag.
- **Why browse:** An illustrator and graphic designer with unusually relevant local and cycling-related portfolio work. Possible direction: a welcoming, playful club identity with memorable illustrations.
- **Portfolio:** https://www.keepitsomple.be/
- **Specific examples:** https://www.keepitsomple.be/hetfietslab.html and https://www.keepitsomple.be/autovrij.html — linked from her homepage, but these subpages did not load in the research browser; browse via the homepage if necessary.
- **Public contact:** info@keepitsomple.be, printed on the portfolio homepage.
- **Limit:** A cycling-related illustration commission is not evidence that she has designed technical cycling apparel.

### Bisser

- **Connection:** His participating artist entry at Kunstroute-Leuven lists a 3000 Leuven studio address: https://kunstroute-leuven.be/deelnemers/bisser . Visit Leuven independently describes him as a Leuven artist: https://www.visitleuven.be/en/street-art-cities-app .
- **Existing work:** Murals, illustrations, canvases and ceramics; the official portfolio includes Blauwput, Birdlady, animals, think and other surreal figure compositions.
- **Why browse:** Possible direction: a recognisable artist collaboration built around strange figures, interlocking forms, graphic outlines or a limited palette.
- **Portfolio:** https://bisser.be/
- **Public contact:** bisser@bisser.be, from his official website. Kunstroute also lists 2xbisser@gmail.com.
- **Limit:** No jersey commission or current availability verified.

### Frederik De Vlaminck — Made You Look

- **Connection:** Says he lives and works in Leuven; contact address in Heverlee: https://www.madeyoulook.be/contact .
- **Existing work:** Groenendaal Brewery visual identity, black labels with playful illustrations and cream typography, plus a branded T-shirt; colourful city illustrations for De Duurzame Hasselaar.
- **Why browse:** His work spans both understated branding and brighter illustration, useful while the club is still choosing a direction. Possible direction: a strong club identity with a small illustrated emblem or a more colourful local narrative.
- **Specific projects:** https://www.madeyoulook.be/groenendaal and https://www.madeyoulook.be/thermostaat .
- **Public contact:** frederik@madeyoulook.be.
- **Limit:** Graphic design, illustration and merchandise shown; technical cycling-kit experience unverified.

### Jonas Denil — Straatletters

- **Connection:** Identified as a Leuven street artist by a commissioning city's tourism website: https://www.ontdeksintniklaas.be/nl/typisch-sint-niklaas/street-art/straatletters . Current studio address not independently established.
- **Existing work:** Colourful phrase-led lettering, including Ze worden zo snel groot and Komt goed. His Bolt Goed ground artwork appeared for the 2021 Ronde van Vlaanderen in Sint-Niklaas; the commissioning city documents the artwork: https://www.sint-niklaas.be/sites/portaal/files/2021-05/Jef%20Maes%20-%20onkosten%20Ronde%20van%20Vlaanderen%202021.pdf .
- **Why browse:** Possible direction: a bold club-name treatment or locally meaningful phrase, with personality even when used on a largely plain jersey.
- **Portfolio / contact route:** https://www.instagram.com/straatletters/ — check the profile's current contact options. Instagram was blocked to the research browser, so current DM availability and email were not verified.
- **Limit:** Leuven connection and a cycling-event commission are established; a jersey-design service is not.

### Muchamara — Tamara

- **Connection:** Her own About page describes the creative studio as based in Leuven: https://www.muchamara.com/about .
- **Existing work:** Little Red Riding Hood, Mio my Mio, folklore, editorial illustrations and character scenes. She describes her work as dark, playful, poetic, textured and atmospheric.
- **Why browse:** Possible direction: an imaginative forest or night-ride theme with characters and textured illustration.
- **Portfolio:** https://www.muchamara.com/
- **Public contact:** tamara@muchamara.com.
- **Limit:** Fabric and jersey experience unverified.

### Loop Creative — Neil Avern and Liesbeth Briers

- **Connection:** Their own website says they are based in Leuven and lists 3000 Leuven contact details.
- **Existing work:** Illustrated packaging and graphic design for Bizzie Bee, Four Seasons Macao, Tai Kwun Contemporary and The Peninsula; communication and illustration work for The Nature Conservancy and UNDP Mozambique.
- **Why browse:** A broad portfolio covering illustration and coordinated design systems. Possible direction: a complete club identity carried through jersey, cap and supporting graphics. Browse the hotel/packaging and nature-related projects to choose a visual direction; these are substantially different kinds of work.
- **Portfolio and public contact:** https://nl.weareloopcreative.com/ ; neil@weareloopcreative.com and liz@weareloopcreative.com.
- **Limit:** No cycling-jersey project verified. Avoid assuming one fixed house style from the diversity of the client work.

### Luis-Manuel Lambrechts — Leuven area

- **Connection:** WISPER describes him as a Leuven painter and illustrator: https://wisper.be/nl/luis-manuel-lambrechts . His exhibiting gallery describes him as based in a small village close to Leuven, so treat him as a regional candidate: https://www.rafvanseveren.com/exhibitions/expo-luis-manuel-lambrechts/2024 .
- **Existing work:** Colourful narrative paintings and illustrations with humans, animals, nature and folklore, drawing on Belgian and Peruvian roots. The gallery's exhibition page provides examples.
- **Why browse:** Possible direction: a distinctive landscape or fictional local world across the jersey, suited to an outdoors-oriented club.
- **Official website:** https://lmlambrechts.be/ — search-indexed artist bio/contact was available, but direct opening returned a private-site page during research. Use the gallery portfolio as a fallback.
- **Public contact:** lm.lambrechts@hotmail.com, indexed from the official website; recheck before sending because the live site was private.
- **Limit:** No jersey commission verified.

### DinDin — further lead, contact needs work

- **Connection:** Visit Leuven identifies DinDin as a Leuven artist: https://www.visitleuven.be/en/street-art-cities-app .
- **Existing work:** Small, poetic photo-based stencils. Visit Leuven also lists her in the 2026 A Date with Art programme at Sax, Parijsstraat 31: https://visitleuven.be/datewithart . The programme was scheduled through 8 November 2026; check current opening details before visiting.
- **Why browse:** Possible direction: a restrained stencil or a single narrative image, rather than an all-over pattern.
- **Contact:** No reliable current direct commission contact verified. Sax / the public exhibition programme may provide a route to discovering current work and artist details.
- **Limit:** Include as an exploratory lead, not an immediately actionable contact. Several unrelated artists use this name; do not use emails from generic search results.

## Further artists and designers

### Lien Geeroms — Leuven — strongest additional illustration/textile candidate

- **Local evidence:** her [own bio](https://liengeeroms.com/about-1) says she returned to settle in Leuven after studying in Ghent; freelance illustrator since 2012.
- **Look / fit:** cheerful, humorous, colourful illustration; an appealing direction for a friendly social club, distinctive mascot, or illustrated all-over pattern. Existing textile commissions make her particularly relevant.
- **Work to open:** [portfolio](https://liengeeroms.com/) contains **About Blue — Imagery for fabric**, **Fulardo — Silk scarf**, **Eenddracht — T-shirt design**, **Koning Kevin — T-shirt woohoo**, and **Stad Leuven — Sport- en Speelplan**. The site uses a lightbox, so project clicks resolve to the same root URL; use these exact titles.
- **Contact:** info@liengeeroms.com, published on her own bio.
- **Evidence limit:** textile illustration confirmed; technical cycling-kit design not established.

### Maarten Deckers / Studio Maarten Deckers — Leuven (Wijgmaal link) — strongest additional graphic/typographic candidate

- **Local evidence:** his [self-authored Behance profile](https://www.behance.net/maartendeckers) explicitly describes working from a studio in Leuven. His Cinema Roxy case also describes being a resident of the former cinema in Wijgmaal.
- **Look / fit:** strong typography, considered colour, accessible graphic identities. Good for a restrained, graphic club jersey, retro local identity, or Copenhagen-inspired cycling culture.
- **Work to open:** [**Velo Viking**](https://www.behance.net/gallery/50078409/Velo-Viking): identity for a Hasselt bicycle shop/workshop, rounded red lettering, simplicity and Danish cycling-culture influences. [**Cinema Roxy**](https://www.behance.net/gallery/52957383/Cinema-Roxy): local architecture translated into Art Deco lettering and a repeatable poster system. Also **Dorpsklap**, **Type Characters**, and **Paper Collages** on his portfolio.
- **Contact:** Message / Hire button on [Behance](https://www.behance.net/maartendeckers); [own website](https://www.maartendeckers.com/) is linked there but did not fetch in research. Do not invent an email.
- **Evidence limit:** bicycle-sector identity confirmed; cycling apparel not established.

### Olalena / Anneleen — Leuven — graphic, colour and riso route

- **Local evidence:** [own website](https://www.olalena.com/) states that her design studio is in Leuven, gives a 3000 Leuven footer and says she teaches risography at Hal 5 in Kessel-Lo.
- **Look / fit:** shape, typography and colour are explicit parts of her practice. Interesting for a print-inspired jersey with limited inks, grain, layered shapes and a cultural rather than racing aesthetic; that jersey direction is an inference.
- **Work to open:** [design portfolio](https://www.olalena.com/olalena-portfolio) linked from her home page; [riso studio](https://olalena.studio/). Both portfolio subpages failed to fetch, so do not attribute individual unverified projects. Home page lists work for **CERA branding/campaigns**, **Kunstwerkt**, **Lotte Martens**, **Greenpeace**, **Sport Vlaanderen** among others, but project visuals need a manual browse.
- **Contact:** lena@olalena.com, own website.
- **Evidence limit:** experienced art direction and graphics confirmed; apparel-specific experience not established.

### Isabelle Geeraerts — Heverlee — warm narrative illustration

- **Local evidence:** [own about page](https://www.isabellegeeraerts.be/about/) describes her as a graphic designer and illustrator from Heverlee.
- **Look / fit:** positive, playful narrative imagery, with warmth and wit (matching her own description). Best explored for a club character, a human illustration or an illustrative landscape rather than assuming an existing jersey-production service.
- **Work to open:** [illustration gallery](https://www.isabellegeeraerts.be/illustration/), [graphic design gallery](https://www.isabellegeeraerts.be/graphic-design/). Her own gallery is predominantly image-only; no reliable individual project titles extracted. **Een trui om in te wonen** is an identifiable published illustration example, corroborated in [the Leesjury teaching pack](https://www.deleesjury.be/sites/default/files/werkpakketten/2023-09/il_leesjury2324_inspi_fiche_groep_2_totaal.pdf), although this is a book, not actual apparel design.
- **Contact:** hello@isabellegeeraerts.be; +32 496 62 55 38, own website footer.

### Hans Geyens — Leuven — lettering, conceptual / street-art route

- **Local evidence / contact:** [Kunstroute Leuven 2026 participant route](https://kunstroute-leuven.be/routeplan) gives an atelier in Leuven and public phone **0479 481 199**. Its [2026 artist brochure](https://kunstroute-leuven.be/sites/default/files/Affiche_2026_Web.pdf) lists Instagram **@snahsneyeg**, and categorises him in painting, street art and text-based art.
- **Look / fit:** bold lettering and conceptual graphic art; interesting for an idiosyncratic Leuven club slogan or expressive typographic jersey. The artist-route brochure stresses that he chooses a style to suit an idea rather than a single house style.
- **Work to open:** [**Druk in Leuven** window-poetry lettering](https://pers.leuven.be/winnaars-poeziewedstrijd-druk-in-leuven), a city primary source; [**AkkerArt** brochure](https://www.regio-oost.be/images/downloads/AkkerArt-Brochure.pdf), which describes his mixture of abstraction and graphics. His public Instagram is the best visual portfolio.
- **Cycling connection:** 2021 Leuven rooftop paintings supporting the World Championships are documented by [Nieuwsblad](https://www.nieuwsblad.be/regio/vlaams-brabant/oost-brabant/leuven/dankzij-deze-kunstenaar-zal-leuven-ook-vanuit-de-lucht-de-wielrenners-aanmoedigen-en-nu-tellen-hoeveel-keer-ze-in-beeld-komen/56118310.html). Secondary source, used only for this specific connection; no kit-design claim.

### Alessia Dal Bo’ / Arkkiale — Leuven — architectural/local-landmark route

- **Local evidence:** her [business LinkedIn page](https://be.linkedin.com/company/arkkiale-%E2%80%A2-illustrator) lists Leuven headquarters and publishes her first local commission, **Vaartkom** for CATCHY. It also advertises her Leuven architecture/ceramics workshops.
- **Look / fit:** carefully delineated architectural black lines and floating colour areas; could suit a jersey built around Vaartkom, Leuven buildings or recognisable local routes.
- **Work to open:** **Vaartkom poster/postcard** and architectural portfolio via [Arkkiale’s portfolio](https://arkkiale.my.canva.site/arkkiale) (linked by her business page; Canva page did not fetch), or the detailed project post on her own business LinkedIn.
- **Contact:** arkkiale@outlook.com, published on own business LinkedIn.
- **Evidence limit:** architecture illustration confirmed; technical kit design unconfirmed.

### Bram De Baere — self-listed Leuven — caricature / character route

- **Local evidence:** [his own Behance profile](https://www.behance.net/BramDeBaere?locale=en_US) lists Leuven and identifies him as art director, illustrator and caricaturist.
- **Look / fit:** exaggerated characters, cultural references and portrait/caricature work. A more humorous club mascot or cheeky illustration would be the route to explore, depending on the desired vibe.
- **Work to open:** **Billie Eilish**, **20 years Daft Punk**, **Campaign visual Crodino**, and **FERM Bio Restaurant** in his profile. Specific direct example: [**Ozark Henry**](https://www.behance.net/gallery/56299225/Ozark-Henry?locale=en_US), a caricature of musician Piet Goddaer.
- **Contact:** Message on [Behance](https://www.behance.net/BramDeBaere?locale=en_US); [own site](https://www.bramdebaere.be/) was inaccessible during research.
- **Evidence limit:** location is self-listed on portfolio; some projects are dated 2017, so confirm active practice and availability. No apparel experience established.

## Additional local / nearby options with geography caveats

### Laura Verbrugge — Leuven & Marseille (dual base)

- **Local evidence:** [own about page](https://www.lauraverbrugge.com/about) explicitly says she is based in both Leuven and Marseille.
- **Look / fit:** branding with movement, editorial design and urban photography; interesting for a contemporary graphic identity. Her [home page projects](https://www.lauraverbrugge.com/) show **Kine Motus** (movement-led physiotherapy identity), **Le Quadrathlon des Femmes** (sports initiative logo/colours), and **BAAS POP-UP** for MIJNLEUVEN. These are concrete visual references for a sporty yet social club.
- **Contact:** public [Instagram linked from her site](https://www.lauraverbrugge.com/about) / LinkedIn; no verified email extracted. The site says “Got a project in mind? Say hi” but the text-only fetch did not expose its email link.
- **Evidence limit:** sports branding confirmed, cycling-kit work unconfirmed. Dual base, not exclusively Leuven.

### Flyn Daenen — “from Leuven”; current base needs confirmation

- **Local evidence:** [own home page](https://www.flyndaenen.com/) says “graphic & brand designer from Leuven.” This proves a Leuven connection, but does not strictly distinguish origin from current residence.
- **Look / fit:** complete graphic identities with lettering, logos and coherent applications; a possible partner for a cleaner club system extending from jersey to badges, bottles and social media.
- **Work to open:** [**Active Motion**](https://www.flyndaenen.com/active-motion), personal coaching/sport-oriented branding; **Vonkt**, **Eulyss**, **Smash My Burger** on his home page offer different brand personalities.
- **Contact:** [project enquiry form](https://www.flyndaenen.com/work-with-me). The form explicitly accepts graphic work and a budget range below €2,000, but this is **not a quote or rate**.

### Lisa Pauwels / Studio Pisa — nearby Holsbeek; Leuven profile also exists

- **Location caveat:** her [self-authored Twine bio](https://www.twine.net/StudioPisa) says **based in Holsbeek**, while the location field says Leuven; [Malt](https://www.malt.com/profile/lisapauwels) also says Leuven. Use “nearby Holsbeek / Leuven connection” rather than confidently describing her as Leuven-based.
- **Look / fit:** describes her style as colourful, cheerful and a little silly. A promising approachable direction for playful typography, cartoon motifs and custom people/pet illustrations.
- **Work to open:** [own portfolio](https://www.studiopisa.be/portfolio): **Weekday Leuven / De Langste Dag** illustration, bold bright **Maurice birth-announcement typography**, personalised portraits, a playful US travel agency logo and packaging design.
- **Contact:** info@studiopisa.be; 0475 35 51 39 on own portfolio.
- **Evidence limit:** no established cycling apparel project; current geographic ambiguity should be retained.

## How to turn the browsing into a club brief

1. Have each member pick three actual portfolio images they would like to wear. Name what appeals: colour, typography, illustration, humour, simplicity or local references.
2. Choose two or three directions and write down practical constraints: existing club name/logo, sponsor requirements, approximate quantity, manufacturer, decision date, and design budget separate from garment costs.
3. Ask shortlisted designers whether they would take on a cycling-jersey commission, and for a quote covering concepts, revisions, front/back/sleeve layouts and preparing or coordinating artwork on the manufacturer's templates.
4. Agree usage rights for jerseys, caps, club merchandise and future reorders. Ask who handles seams, zip, pockets, fabric colour proofing and the final production handoff.
